Political economy of digital infrastructur(ing)

Here we explore the political economy of digital infrastructur(ing in the commons - specifically, the contribution economy and, secondarily, digital means of exchange.

Contribution economy What contributions to infrastructure need paying for - ie wages? What limitations and privileges are there in expectations of 'free' contribution (in movements, in open-source software)?

Distributed tools How far can self-provision of infrastructure go, at the single-organisation or single-user level?

Commons of running code How much infrastructure lives on users' devices, how much is on platforms? How much hosted infrastructure do we need?

How do we weave these together? Under what social relations? How can coops and coop-to-coop federating be used to do this?
